Deadlock: How to be a chill player
Short answer
A guide on how to not be an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on Deadlock and to be someone people are chill with.
Steam Community guide by Yadin (PC dead rn).
Intro
I've noticed some people seem to be very toxic/rude in this game. And maybe I'm just a snowflake, I care too much for others, or what. But I think being toxic does nothing but both ruin the game for you and the others.
So I wanna give some advice on my mindset to help people who may be toxic, to lighten up.
1. We were all new at this game at some point!
I've seen many people just insult and berate newer players. While I can agree it'd be better for them to play with bots, some players just don't do that. So the best thing to do is to just be kind and teach them.
If you have a mic, try to tell them what they're doing wrong, what stuff means, or how certain things work. If they have a mic, it's only better! Cause you can have real time chats on helping them improve and get better at this game!
Being mean to new players just scares them off, and just leaves us in a small little world. And I don't want this game to get a fanbase know for being rude, but one that's kind!
2. We're not all experts
People like me play this game off work or on our days off work. We're not people who have endless time to practice, train, and master things. So if someone fails to solo 2-3 people on a lane, don't just yell at them!
I know that I'm HORRID at solo fights in this game. And will avoid them like a plague! But that doesn't mean I can't be a good healer, a good support, or help to soften an enemy for another persons killing blow!
I'm no master of this game (I'm bronze 1 lmfao) but I'd like to say I'm okay at it. Sometimes you gotta just gotta give people a break if they don't do insane clutches!
3. K/D's don't mean much!
You could have 0 kills, and be the best medic ever, or have 20 assists! You could have 15+ deaths, but have a kills in the 20's too! K/D's mean nothing! What matters is what you bring to the table for your team.
While having a good K/D feels good, you gotta remember that every kill is just a BIG game of luck in the end. So your K/D, although it may show your skill, also shows how lucky you got!
Insulting a team player over a K/D does nothing but make them not wanna play anymore. I've had many games as healer characters (Dynamo, Kelvin, McGinnis) and barely over 5 kills. Than I get insulted for it after dying 10+ times to a REALLY good Haze.
What matters is how much you listen and help your team, not how well you click your mouse on enemy players.
4. It's a game
The final and biggest bit of advice. Deadlock is a game, and just that. We're lucky to be able to play it so early! And we should all have fun and enjoy ourselves! But I've seen match after match, after match, and match of toxic players.
And besides, think about it. If you are one of those toxic people, just think about this. You're yelling at how someone controls some pixels on your screen. Your upset at a person playing a video game. You could better use that anger for actual important matters! Not some random new player learning the ropes!
We're all human, and are here for fun, not to yell at each other. So lets all have fun!
End
I made this guide cause I wanna not only see the game improve, but the fanbase! If the fanbase is toxic at release, than no one will want to play! So lets all be kind, friendly, and relaxed. Why should we get mad over pixels?
